Members with distinct professional expertise can lead or join one‑off roundtables or Member Expert Groups (MEGs) to work directly with Shadow Ministers.
We are adding new depth and insight to our member policy-making by inviting members with real expertise to get involved.
Last September, we opened applications for the first of the new Member Expert Groups (MEGs), which offer a unique opportunity to participate in Conservative policy development.
These MEGs function as advisory panels to develop and advance Conservative ideas and policies, supporting our Shadow Teams. We aim to foster policymaking that is flexible, innovative, and open to new ideas, leading to better policy outcomes and a long-term vision for the UK.
We're seeking Conservative Policy Forum Members with significant and demonstrable expertise in a specific policy area.
We are looking for individuals with a strong focus on solutions and deep knowledge of their subject area. Contributions will form recommendations to the Party leadership.
We have already appointed MEG Chairs and members in a number of key specialisms, and we'll soon be announcing a new tranche of Member Expert Groups, which may include policy areas that are open for expert applicants, such as:
- Transport
- Pensions
- CMS (Culture, Media and Sport)
- Housing and Planning
- Machinery of Government (Civil Service Reform)
- Environment
- Taxation
- SIT (Science, Innovation and Technology)

Member Expert Groups and the Policy Renewal programme:
Our Member Expert Groups allow you to bring your own professional knowledge and expertise to support ongoing work on particular topics, so this is work on developing new policy ideas and proposals.
If you already have a worked-up, evidenced policy idea, the Policy Renewal programme is the best way to submit this.
