Walton Conservative Club last night hosted a CPF Group discussion on housing supply shortages and how they might be addressed. Ahead of the CPF paper on housing to be published later this month, the Group's discussion ranged from Garden Towns/villages and Green Belt reviews to how Northern City expansion could be facilitated to ease pressures in the South of England, among many other topics.
Several interesting suggestions were put forward, such as whether the land value of Green Belt could be captured and used for surrounding communities to improve services and infrastructure, and whether monies from developer contributions could be used towards funding relevant skills needed in communities, e.g. teacher training. As with all ideas presented through the CPF, these suggestions will feed into wider consideration of future policy options.
